As an ecologically favourable alternative to the classic oil- or gas-operated heating systems, the use of solid-matter heating systems - precisely in view of the energy price development - is becoming increasingly attractive. For this area of application, ebm-papst, the leading manufacturer in the field of motors and fans, offers suitable gearmotors for feed screws, quiet air-supply fans and tailored waste air fans for waste gas transport.

Theoretically, a defined quantity of oxygen is required in order to oxidise or, in other words, burn gas completely. Conventional atmospheric "flame burners" always require exact adjustment on site. However, temperature and air pressure fluctuations continuously change the air volume that is aspirated. A new centrifugal blower from ebm-papst Landshut with integrated mass flow sensor now offers an optimum alternative.

The currently standard premix burners ensure flame temperatures of under 1300 °C and thus low nitrous oxide values. However, variations in gas quality will change the gas/air ratio in the combustion chamber. If there is no compensation, this could lead to unwanted noise, increased pollutant emissions or reduced heating capacity. The solution to this is modern electronic controllers.

With its powerful and compact S-Force 5300 fans (Fig.1) ebm-papst St. Georgen launched a series onto the market in 2008. This series provides the ideal solution above all for applications that not only have a high air requirement with simultaneous high counterpressure - but also limited space for integrating the fan.
